As consumers, the way we shop is changing. Fast. The internet has changed the way we make decisions about what we buy and where. The Zero Moment of Truth is about engaging with the customer during this research phase and it involves more than just putting up a website.

According to Kevin Roberts, CEO of Proctor & Gamble, “The best brands consistently win two moments of truth. The first moment occurs at the store shelf, when a consumer decides whether to buy one brand or another. The second occurs at home, when she uses the brand – and is delighted, or isn’t.

Most marketers concentrate on winning the customer at that first moment of truth. Google introduced the world to the concept of ZMOT - The Zero Moment of Truth. It's the online discovery phase which occurs before the First Moment of Truth and it's powerful. Think about your own shopping habits.
